Culinary / Lifestyle / September 3, 2015

…has arrived. And these are my favorite colors AND my favorite sneakers. Got my Pocahontas vibe, my TMNT mutagen shake and poppin’ a sweet squat in Chicago for Fall Nutrition month. Bucket list item, CHECK.

Don’t forget to donate to my Chicago Marathon fundraiser for Endure to Cure right HERE.

Just got my RW in the mail. Great cover and great article. Have to ask about the outfit you’re wearing inside. Can you share the brand?

It is Derek Lam for Athleta. The top is, anyway. The picture inside is horrible! Oh well! Thanks for reading and Happy Running!

I am confused by your military past. You went through ROTC at Boston and then became a rescue swimmer? As a Navy SAR pilot I never came across any way of an officer serving as a rescue swimmer. Care to elaborate?

Sure. I was stationed on an all male ship, and as they started to integrate females they could only bring officers on board (berthing issue). We lost a rescue swimmer and needed a waiver to even get underway. Something like eight or 10 guys failed rescue swimmer school and as an athlete, and a pushy human being, I convinced the command to let me go, and I passed. I knew two other officers who were rescue swimmers (both male) while I was in the west coast fleet.

Nice! I was thinking Aviation Rescue Swimmer . . . . Totally different ball of wax. Makes more sense now!

Can you share the outfit brand you are wearing on the cover? Good luck in Chicago!
