Margartini: Happy National Tequila Day!

Happy National Tequila Day!

Today is National Tequila Day! Want to learn more?

I prefer tequila in a mixed drink over straight up; unless its Porfidio. 2oz of that with two ice cubes and a squeeze of lime. Ahhhhhhhh. Again! Again!

I made this the other day and it was magical. Spicy and fresh with a hint of sweetness and enough tequila to come through but not make you nostalgic for that “one time in college”…

Margartini Ingredients – Makes 2 drinks

1/2 sliced jalapeno

1/4 cup cilantro leaves

pinch sugar

juice of 2 limes

4 oz white or silver tequila (blanco)

2 oz triple sec

1/2 oz grand marnier

2oz apple juice (I always keep low-cal apple juice in my fridge for mixing purposes)

Method

1. In a jigger muddle jalapeno with cilantro and a sprinkle of sugar (just for roughage to help you grind)

2. Add the lime juice, tequila, triple sec, grand marnier and apple juice, fill with ice and shake vigorously until very cold.

3. Strain into chilled martini glasses and garnish with a lime slice (or a thin slice of jalapeno or a cilantro leaf)

Enjoy!
